WIF team 16 June 2010
Editions Volumiques, publisher and research laboratory on the evolving relationship between paper and digital interfaces, have presented for the first WIF’s Demos two of their products: Pawns and Pirates, two interactive games.
Totally in the studio’s spirit, these two games combine both pleasure of board games and interaction with modern interfaces. Presented by Etienne Mineur, graphic designer and renowned art director, co-founder of the Incandescence studio and a ENSAD graduate, these games have awaken the child in everyone of us!

Pawns
An innovative game where the player uses physical tokens to navigate a touch screen (iPhone or tablet type). The screen becomes part of an interactive game board, where moving the pawns on the touch screen has an impact on the course of the game.

A playful and educational approach, but also a return to the tangible aspect of games, to re-discover the pleasure of handling your own character.

Pirates
Second game presented in preview, Pirates is somehow the opposite of Pawn: your touchscreen becomes the game pawn, navigating and moving on the game board.

A reimagined version of our old-fashioned games, taking advantage of the new uses and interactions with information, and praised by the jury, since these project have received the WIF’s Demos 2010 award!
