Last-born at Fyp Editions (french editor in Limoges) : “Every[ware]” from Adam Greenfield and “Culture d’univers” from Frank Beau.
Adam Greenfield, a famous architect of information, proposes in Every[ware] (contraction of the terms “everywhere” and “hard/software”) a vision of what will be the next computer revolution, the ubimédia.
This major evolution can be defined as the integration of the computing in the objects of everyday life, as the communicating chips and the electronic sensors with, at the end, the creation of intelligent environments.
Accessible to all, this work does not only describe the outlines of this new numerical revolution, but incites to think now about its issues and consequences. Because, for better or for worse, the ubimedia is the new reality of the data processing of the XXIth century.
Also discover Culture of universe, Frank Beau’s book event on the virtual universes and the game in network. This work proposes for the first time an analysis without detour of the social, cultural and economic rules of the new universes such as “Second Life” and role plays online of worldwide reach like “World of WarCraft”.
What does it happens in the head of all these players? Do these universes prefigure the numerical society of the future?
